About
I am Kaito Namai (生井海東), a doctoral student at the Graduate School of Political Science, Waseda University (Tokyo, Japan). My research sits within contemporary political theory and philosophy, with a particular focus on structural injustice and responsibility. My doctoral thesis examines how responsibility for structural injustice should be conceptualised and practised in contexts where democratic institutions and civic practices are absent.
I am a member of the Institute of International Reconciliation Studies at Waseda University and an Assistant Researcher at the Comparative Political Theory Research Project at the Waseda Institute of Political Economy.
I hold an MSc in Political Theory from the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) and a BA in Political Science (minors in Taiwan Studies and Conflict Resolution) from Waseda University.
I am fluent in Japanese, Mandarin Chinese, and English, and am currently learning Shanghainese.
